For September, our featured maker, Joelle, lovingly hand-pours her beautiful vegan candles in Stratford Upon Avon.
We introduce to you ‘Nickola Candela’.
Joelle created her beautiful candles off the back of her home decor store ‘Nickolai Jo & Co’, and her entire collection is crafted using natural soy wax and the best sustainable and eco-friendly ingredients.
The bumblebee inspires this gorgeous brand, which you will find sitting proudly on the label of your candle. LET’S LEARN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT NICKOLA CANDELA…
Earlier this month, we sat down with Joelle from Nickola Candela to talk about all things candles…
How long has your brand been going and is it your full-time job?
Nickola Candela has been going on for over a year. We started off in the background of my home decor store, Nickolai Jo & Co and took over that. It is now fully candles and home scents… Full-time 24/7! I’ve taken over the dining room and now half of the garage… which is now my studio… much to my husband’s delight!
What inspired you to start making candles and your brand?
I love anything that makes my house smell great. I always found it hard to find that one scent that I liked, and finding anything near to the scent I like was impossible… so I started making my own.
What is your passion and inspiration behind the brand?
I love what I do and also I love my bee’s. I’ve always been known as the bumblebee whisperer as I am a constant magnet to sick bee’s. I bring them back to health and off they go, so doing two things I love is my perfect job and it’s my brand all in one.
I’d say my inspiration is my Great Aunt. She’s in her 90s and still going strong and she has always been a hard worker. I think I’ve taken my inspiration and working hard ethics from her.
What has been your biggest achievement so far?
I’d say my biggest achievement is bringing this small business to where it is today. I am a one-man business, and with no help, I have got it to where it is today.
Do you have a fun fact or anecdote about your brand?
My husband always says I have a nose like a Beagle… I can smell anything anywhere and at any distance. It drives everyone mad! I have a sensitive nose and it works great with what I do!
What are your future plans?
I’d love to get my brand out there and to let people know that we need to work harder in saving the bee’s who are very important to this planet. Owning a candle or any item from Nickola Candela means you have helped save the bees. We give £1.00 from every item sold to ‘The Bumblebee Conservation Trust’.
We are vegan, eco-friendly and everything can be recycled down to our jars where you can re-use the packaging.
