Iggy Box Reveal | June Maker

Welcome to your June box ‘The secret garden bloomed & every morning revealed new miracles…’ As we enter the summer season, our box celebrates the great and beautiful outdoors.

Meet Your June Maker

This June, our featured makers are Kirsty and Michael from Willow and Blossom, who have been pouring their vegan collection for over 2 years from their workshop in Liverpool’s North Docks…

Mastering their craft after the birth of their first child, there has always been a focus on a natural, botanical aesthetic and theme. Proudly stocked in John Lewis and M&S in 2020, their collection encapsulates the best of nature and its amazing fragrances.

Each ball is handmade using a mix of British Wildflower seeds and 100% recycled paper. Just add water and some compost and let nature do what it does best!

Sew Many Seeds started their business out of a love for all things nature and now have a range of plantable seeds, gifts and grow your own kits suitable for gardeners of all ages and experience. The environment is of course at the heart of everything, with 100% recyclable packaging and zero plastic and entirely biodegradable.

Let’s learn a little more about Willow and Blossom! We sat down with Kirsty and Michael to talk all things candles…

How long has your brand been going/is it full time?

The brand has been going since May 2019, we are pouring candles more or less every day now!

Where in the UK are you based and what space do you use for your ‘workshop’?

We are based in Liverpool and have a workshop in North docks where we are surrounded by other creatives and artists which we love.

What inspired you to start making candles? Do you have a passion that has been embedded in your brand?

Kirsty began making candles on maternity leave as she found making candles calming and relaxing. We gave them to family and  friends who loved them and wanted us to make more. After our youngest was born, Michael got on board and we began making candles as a business. We love all things botanical and this has been embedded in our candles.

What do you love about our featured scent ‘Secret Garden’?

The secret garden scent smells like a garden in full bloom on a Summer’s day. We wanted to create a candle that was fresh and floral at the same time and think this is the perfect combination. We also love the botanical label.

There are so many scents you can choose to make…How do you go about choosing for your collection?

We usually choose scents based on personal preference and their scent. Kirsty usually chooses floral and fruity scents whereas Michael will choose more musky scents so it’s good that we get a balance and something for everyone in our collections.

What has been your proudest moment since starting out?

Last year we had our candles in John Lewis and Marks and Spencers. For us this was a proud moment.

Do you have a fun fact or anecdote about your brand?

Before candle making we used to have a jewellery making business. I have always loved creating and running a small business.

Do you have any specific ambitions or goals for Willow and Blossom?

We would love the business to carry on growing and build up even more stockists across the country. Eventually we would love our very own shop.

Do you have any charitable or environmental partnerships we should know about to share?

Not yet. Our brand is eco friendly and also vegan friendly. All of our candles and Melts are hand poured in Liverpool using soy wax, the finest Paraben free fragrances with cotton wicks and biodegradable or recyclable packaging.

Is there anything that you believe makes your brand different or stand out?

As a small family run business we pour in very small batches and most candles are poured to order. We believe our botanical natural look sets us apart for the rest.

Are there any plans for new products or news over the next few months?

We plan on launching a range of botanical Reed diffusers and gold tin candles with Hand drawn botanical labels drawn by a local artist.

So there you have it, our June reveal!

A scent to fill your home with fresh, fruity and floral tones straight from the garden and a ‘little extra’ to encourage us to embrace and enjoy how soothing nature can be. Happy burning, Iggy Boxers!
