Card & Parker was founded by Emmanuelle and Louise only in Spring this year. They share a passion for creating 100% natural, vegan and organic candles that ooze indulgence and elegance. They blend the most beautiful candle scents that are inspired by their French and English heritages, using completely natural soy wax and the finest oils. We really just can’t get enough of our their candles and we love how much you are all loving them too…

Earlier this month, we sat down with Emmanuelle and Louise, to talk all things candles, Card & Parker and we also mixed a bit of fun in along the way. So here it goes, our first ‘Meet The Maker’ Q&A…[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

How long have you been making artisan candles?

Emmanuelle: We first started discussions about it in December 2018 and then the research and testing started in January 2019, once we perfected the candles, we started officially selling them in April.

Is candle making your full-time job?

Emmanuelle: Not at the moment. I am a voiceover artist. I mainly dub programmes for French TV series and commercials.

Louise: Unfortunately not, I am a regional sales manager for a medical device company in Central London.

What inspired you to make them?

Louise: We are both passionate about home fragrance. But we were getting quite frustrated with purchasing expensive candles with minimal scent throw, and that would poorly burn. After doing some research, we realised this is due to combinations of poor quality wax and limited oil.

So, we decided to put all of our creativity together and produce our own candles. We chose to combine the highest quality wax (natural soy), with hand picked oils (based on their properties, unique scent and performance when burning) and from there Card & Parker was born.

What do you love the most about being an artisan candle maker and why?

Emmanuelle: We really enjoy handcrafting candles, there is a great sense of relaxation when making them. We love discovering new scent combinations and embrace the process of creating a candle. As well as, designing the labels and then packaging them before we send to our customers.

It’s brilliant being able to create something yourself and then put your name on it – a real sense of achievement. We are currently working on our Christmas collection and it’s so much fun!

What’s your favourite scent note in a candle?

Emmanuelle: Oud is my obsession! It’s such a rich, luxurious and sensual smell… it’s forever lit in my house at the moment.

Louise: I’m really into Dark Amber as there is something really soft and sumptuous about the smell. It’s a luxury.

What is your least favourite scent note and why?

Emmanuelle: Vanilla, as it is quite ordinary and has been done over and over. I personally prefer more unique scents.

Louise: I really don’t like the smell of Lemongrass, although it’s great for relaxation I find it too strong and it reminds me of toilet cleaner (sorry)!

Who inspires you the most?

Louise: I’m inspired by any successful female that has made it on their own via hard graft. Deborah Meaden started from nothing and now look at her… I guess I’m a bit of a feminist really!

Emmanuelle: I’m inspired by my Dad. He had a successful printing company and taught me that to grow a sustainable business. You need a great product, promote it responsibly and listen to your customers. And to be kind, always.

Tell us something fun about your candles?

Emmanuelle: We have recently collaborated with The Real Housewives of Cheshire production team. They burnt our candles on set and whilst filming to create a luxurious and opulent atmosphere for the cast.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

Emmanuelle: I can speak 5 languages and I’m terrified of clowns and cotton wool!

Louise: I’m petrified of heights, I get tingly hands and feet if I go too high in a building and stand too close to the windows.

and that is a wrap!
