This month, we present to you Shifa Aromas. Shifa, meaning ‘to be healed’, is a creation from makers Jabar & Nafeesa back in 2016 from their workshop in Yorkshire. Their bespoke aromas are blended here in the UK, with a focus on using local businesses to foster their proud community led ethos. A brand built around peace and relaxation, using captivating aromas inspired by their heritage, these beautiful candles are crafted to deliver a therapeutic and tranquil experience every day…

‘Lavender, Lemon & Cedarwood’. Our featured scent, named ‘Pilgrim’ arrives in an elegant, matte black vessel with gold foil lettering giving this 100% soy wax candle it’s intriguing and luxurious aesthetic. A comforting aroma is dominated by notes of Lavender, Lemon and Grapefruit leading to a spicy floral heart of Coriander seed, Jasmine, and Rose. This then rests on a base of Cedarwood, Amber and Tonka.
As the fragrance fills the room, allow a peaceful sense of relaxation to soothe your mind. Whether a nap or a good night’s sleep awaits… this dreamy scent will help you embrace a bliss like slumber.

It’s time to meet the maker! We sat down with Jabar from Shifa Aromas to talk all things candles…
How long has your brand been going/ is it full time or do you do other things?
We have been running since 2016 and it all started as a hobby. I’m a full-time teacher and Nafeesa is a full-time mummy to our three children.
Where in the UK are you based and what space do you use for your ‘workshop’?
We are based in Sheffield, our workshop started in our kitchen then we had our garage converted into a workshop and when we had our first pallet delivery we very quickly realised that our workshop and drive will not be suitable so we moved to a local business centre and now occupy a unit there where all our products are made.
What inspired you to start making candles? Do you have a passion that has been embedded in your brand?
The word ‘Shifa’ means ‘to be healed or cured’ so we wanted to produce a range of fragrances and products that could help people relax in these busy lifestyles. We embed this passion by having our fragrance made bespoke from a UK manufacturer and for our range took 1-2years to develop. To aesthetically make our candles and diffusers beautiful we add natural petals and resins like oud to enhance the aromas and look.
What do you love about our featured scent?
The featured scent is ‘Pilgrim’ a combination of Lavender, Lemon & Cedarwood this fragrance is both comforting and soothing. When the candle is lit it feels like a blanket of beautiful aromas is comforting you.
There are so many scents you can choose to make… How do you go about choosing for your collection?
We choose scents based on lifestyle moments like Midnight Rose for love, Secret Garden to relax, we incorporate essential oils in our fragrances to enhance the aromas and reap the therapeutic benefits.
What has been your proudest moment since starting out?
Our proudest moments are our 5 star customer reviews and people complimenting the quality and craftsmanship of our products.
Do you have any specific ambitions or goals for Shifa?
We would like Shifa Aromas to become known as a luxurious home fragrance brand that can run through generations within our family.
Do you have any charitable or environmental partnerships we should know about to share?
For every trade order we receive we donate to orphanages around the globe.
Is there anything that you believe makes your brand different or stand out?
Our brand aims to source its designers, packaging and elements locally in Yorkshire where possible and also give back to the community by employing local young people. We aim to bring quality hand-poured and hand-crafted products that are affordable and can be enjoyed for a long-time.
Are there any plans for new products or news over the next few months?
We have recently launched our skin-care collection which is infused with a natural anti-microbial ‘Silver Colloidal’ and also very excited about our new massage candles that can be used directly on the skin to nourish and relax and have argan, shea & coconut oils/butters.
