Meet Your April Maker
We are delighted to share our April maker Samantha and her collection with you this April. Hand poured from her home workshop in Bristol under her brand, The Soy Candle Company, created back in 2019.
Samantha’s candles bring a chic elegance to our homes, using natural soy wax and clean burning, vegan friendly ingredients. Only a few lucky scents pass the strict testing process, before being selected and given their own colourful identity.

This month, the matte white vessel returns, to bring a clean and fresh touch to your Spring decor this April. A dusky pink label compliments the floral tones of our featured scent, that will offer peace and tranquility with every burn.
A true classic, delivering both fruity and floral notes of peony and red apple, fused with rose, jasmine and carnation. Completed with a touch of violet, plum and an undercurrent of dry amber. A blooming British garden awaits!

Let’s learn a little more about The Soy Candle Company! Earlier this month, we sat down with Samatha to talk all things candles…
How long has your brand been going/ is it full time or do you do other things?
I started The Soy Candle Co in 2019. It’s currently my side hustle with the dream of making candles full time. My day to day job is property developing with my partner.
Where in the UK are you based and what space do you use for your ‘workshop’?
I am based in the beautiful City of Bristol. My studio started in the smallest spare room of my house, but I quickly took up all the space and I have since moved to a larger room in the house where I have invested in more storage and workspace to make candles.
What inspired you to start making candles? Do you have a passion that has been embedded in your brand?
My interest in candles started as just a hobby that I enjoyed in my spare time. After learning about the nasty health hazards of paraffin wax, I invested some time and money into learning the science behind candle making and exploring different types of products used to make candles. After lots of experimenting with different melting temperatures, wax types, wicks, scents, and pouring techniques – The Soy Candle Co was created. My inspiration came from wanting to create a candle using natural products that was safe for my home.
What do you love about our featured scent ‘Peony, Blush & Suede’?
I love how peony and blush suede fills the room with aromas of peony and juicy red apple, followed by hearty notes of rose, jasmine and carnation. Completed with soft notes of violet and plum and rich notes of musk’s and dry amber. The scent is truly beautiful and one of my favourites.
There are so many scents you can choose to make. How do you go about choosing for your collection?
I only offer a small selection of scents, and this is mainly down to being super picky about which scents make it through. I test, test, test and only the absolute best get picked! Each and every scent goes through a tougher testing process to ensure the scent throw and candle quality is perfect for my customers and their home.
What has been your proudest moment since starting out?
I would say my proudest moments are when I get repeat custom. This really does give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Knowing that my customers love my candles that much they keep coming back for more and leaving amazing feedback.
Do you have a fun fact or anecdote about your brand?
The very first candle sale I made online was an exciting moment for me. The sound of that cha-ching made me feel so proud! My partner congratulated me on the sale with a fist pump. To this day every single candle sale gets a fist pump and it becomes something we do without fail.
Do you have any specific ambitions or goals for The Soy Candle Company?
My main goal is to grow my little business and one day move into my own unit with even more space and no stairs to climb with boxes of wax.
Is there anything that you believe makes your brand different or stand out?
The Soy Candle Co is a chic and elegant, yet simple design that looks good in any home. Made from natural products, including 100% natural soy wax that is sourced from the soya bean and wicks that are made with pure cotton and intertwined with a twisted thread of paper.
Are there any plans for new products or news over the next few months?
Yes, I will be adding some new and exciting seasonal scents, as well as doing some amazing giveaways.
