Iggy Box Reveal | April Maker

Welcome to your April box ‘Take Care Of You First’…

Meet Your April Makers

Your April maker, Charlotte, started Eyve Wellbeing on a mission to create clean, plant based products that support a sense of wellbeing. From her base in the Essex countryside, Charlotte uses her background as a life coach and reiki practitioner as her inspiration.

Sustainability is also a key pillar of the Eyve Wellbeing brand. From biodegradable packaging and labels, to compostable ink and a blend of plant based coconut and rapeseed wax, Charlotte leaves no stone unturned.

It’s time to meet the maker! We caught up with Charlotte from Eyve Wellbeing…

How long has your brand been going / is it full time or do you do other things?

We recently celebrated our first year of business, we launched in February 2021 after spending a year on product development. I went part-time in September 2021 to be able to focus more on Eyve, I also work part time as a health and safety advisor (the two work quite hand in hand!)

Where in the UK are you based and what space do you use for your ‘workshop’?

We are based in Colchester, Essex. During the summer we worked from a summer house, however during the winter from inside my home. Plant wax candles are very temperamental to temperature and favour a warmer environment for making.

What inspired you to start making candles? Do you have a passion that has been embedded in your brand?

There were a few different reasons that I was inspired to go into candle making. Since transitioning to a vegan lifestyle nearly 5 years ago, I was always looking for products that supported my own values. I began looking much more into what was in products and this lead me to realising the harmful ingredients used in so many candles and home fragrance products. I started making candles with the aim to create plant based candles, using completely natural ingredients, that were also environmentally and sustainably conscious.

After leaving a job that had hugely affected my mental wellbeing, I decided to train as a life coach and reiki practitioner. Wellbeing had become a huge focus in my life and it was something I felt truly passionate about. The foundation of Eyve Wellbeing is to support wellbeing and encourage taking well needed time out for slowing down and being present in the moment.

What do you love about our featured scent?

Energise is one of my personal favourites and it is also our best seller. I love the aromatherapy benefits of Energise from the four essential oils we use as well as it’s uplifting and refreshing scent. This fragrance combines invigorating lemongrass, warming mandarin, stimulating eucalyptus, and uplifting bergamot essential oils. I hope you love it!

There are so many scents you can choose to make…How do you go about choosing for your collection?

Each of our blends start with the feeling we are trying to achieve, for example Calm, Revitalise and Wind Down. We then work with the essential oils that have the aromatherapy benefits relating to that feeling and go from there. There is a lot of trialing, and we have many blends we have worked on that have never made it to our final collection.

What has been your proudest moment since starting out?

Being approached by Iggy Box to collaborate was definitely one of my proudest moments, thank you so much for the opportunity. Also, hearing feedback is something that means so much to me. I recently had a message from someone saying how much they loved their candle, and it completely made my day. With running a small business single handedly, there are definitely some tough days and it is the feedback like that that keeps you going and makes it all worth it.

Do you have a fun fact or anecdote about your brand?

Perhaps not a fun fact but completely underestimating the science behind candle making and thinking all of those school science (and maths, actually) lessons would never be useful again…

Do you have any specific ambitions or goals for Eyve Wellbeing?

I would love to see Eyve Wellbeing continue to grow, for us to release more products and work with more wonderful stockists.

Do you have any charitable or environmental partnerships we should know about to share?

Instead of participating in Black Friday we decided to opt for ‘Green Friday’ and planted a tree with every order via Ecologi. Being environmentally conscious is something that is hugely important to me and this partnership or one similar is definitely something we look to continue in the near future. We are always looking for ways to be as kind to the environment as possible.

Is there anything that you believe makes your brand different or stand out?

All of the ingredients we use in our candles are 100% natural, always. We use a pure plant-based wax of coconut and rapeseed oil that not only creates a beautiful slow burn and scent throw, but is also free from any synthetic and toxic ingredients. We use 100% pure essential oils in all our products and never any synthetic fragrance oils.

Are there any plans for new products or news over the next few months?

We have just updated all our candle glass and have a fresh new look, this new design took up a huge amount of time…so now that’s all finished, I am really excited to get back to product development.

So there you have it, April’s reveal! This month, we hope that you channel self-care more than ever and that your candle and little something extra will help embrace some important self love that we all need. Happy burning, Iggy Boxers!
